Whether or not your nephew is on the mortgage application your credit score will still be looked at. Although 600 may be relatively, there are lenders like myself that can give loans with credit scores as low as 580. I would recommend to try to raise your credit score for your future benefit. The most effective way to fixing your credit score is to pay your revolving credit card balance. If there is a collection on your credit there isn't much that can be done in the short run. It is best to pay back any collections as soon as possible. So as time goes on the collection will become more insignificant to your credit score and will help it return to a better score.
A credit score of 600 is still doable with some lenders like myself. So if you have any further questions or if you want a loan feel, free to contact me with the information on my profile page. Hope this helps and good luck!
