North of the River Parks:
Macken Park in North Kansas City is one of the largest parks north of the river; shelters are available to be reserved for parties, tennis courts, and one mile walking trail for a lunch time walks, baseball diamonds and handball courts in addition to playground equipment. The park covers more than 10 acres.
English Landing Park in Parkville offers many of the same amenities as Macken Park and includes a walking trail which is next to the Missouri river. Quant boutique shops are nearby along with good restaurants in this small town by the river.
Penguin Park offers a huge playground and is always a hot spot for children under age 10. Many northlanders grew up going to this play ground and this spot has stayed a main attraction for decades. It is also close to Sherwood Estates an established home community which has maintained its reputation for quality living in the Northland.... more
