I want to start a community/ recreation center and do not know what to look up to see if we have one already.
You might try contacting your assessor's office to help determine what your looking for. Here is the Indiana State website.
Thanks,
Nina
There are a number of real estate web sites that refer to housing developments/sub-divisions as communities, other web sites have other definitions. So, I understand your confusion. I suggest that you contact a Realtor where you live to help you determine what community you live in as determined by local custom.
Traditionally a "community" has been defined as a group of interacting people living in a common location. The word is often used to refer to a group that is organized around common values and social cohesion within a shared geographical location, generally in social units larger than a household.
