As a point of information, Florida offers a "Homestead Exemption" for residents that declare Florida as their primary residence. Being registered to vote in Florida and having a Florida driver's license are typical forms of proof for this status.

This exemption allows property owners that homestead a minimal $50,000 deduction and also caps the amount your annual taxes can be increased.

So getting a handle on the taxes of an area can be tricky because it can be influenced by a number of factors including whether or not the previous owners had a homestead exemption. As you encounter specific taxes for a property.....it would benefit you also to know if this rate includes this exemption.
