Hi. You seem already to be aware that flood insurance is required by lenders to be purchased for homes in a great number of neighborhoods and areas throughout Norfolk and its surrounding area. I can tell you, though, that your question honestly cannot be answered without having a specific address - because quite often what you will find is that houses can have no or different flood insurance requirements (by being mapped in a different zone or even in no flood insurance zone!) within even the same neighborhood! In fact, I know some properties that have been required to have flood insurance only because one corner, or only because maybe the garage, is in a flood zone even if the rest of the house and property are not! The sure way to find out an answer is to provide the exact address to your home insurance agent and they can check the federal flood plain maps/zones for you. Feel free to contact me at wayne.goodman@longandfoster.com and I will be happy to help you obtain the information needed as well.
