The rent you can charge depends on the neighborhood the house is located at and also on the square footage of the home itself. The rental values in San Leandro are not as high as let's say Castro Valley for example. For rentals as for sales the 3 little words to remember are: Location, Location, Location. I would suggest trying Section 8 tenants because they have the highest vouchers for a 6 bedroom home. Keep in mind also that the higher the rental the more the chances are that the renter will not last too long. The reason being that if you can afford that high rent, you can actually buy a house. The other suggestions you received from other Realtors here are very good sources to find the true rental value, if possible I also recommend getting a property manager. Wishing you all the best.

Hi Diana,

In addition to http://www.craigslist.com, you might also consider the following sites for checking what you should be pricing your rental at to be competitive:

http://www.rentometer.com/landlord
http://www.zilpy.com
http://www.rentalhomesplus.com/California
http://hotpads.com/

By the way, I also offer FREE Property Management software on my website:
