A Sanchez,

My colleagues are very careful about the Code of Ethics, as am I, but I can share some insights about this neighborhood. What you'll find here is a vibrant shopping area with restaurants all along 5th St, which heads away from Center City to the north - a busy, main street.

On 6th Street, traffic heads in towards Center City, so it is also a busy street, but with more houses than businesses. There are areas that are mixed - homes & vacant land and abandoned buildings.

There is more building taking place here now than there has been in many years. Property close to Temple University has been increasing in value despite the economy.

"1814 N." means that you are 18 blocks north of Center City, putting you at the intersection of 6th & Montgomery Ave. This is five blocks from the center of Temple University's Main Campus and also very close to a main subway stop - very good if you don't have a car.

Good luck to you! Call me when you get here!

As Realtors we cannot answer this question without breaking our code of ethics. We realize the problem that this presents for people, especially when they are relocating to a new area, but there are certain things that can be done in order to become more informed about the area in which you are searching. First, you can contact the local police department for information regarding crime. The address in question is in the 26th District http://www.phillypolice.com/districts/26th. For school information http://www.greatschools.org can help. You can also visit the US. Census website for demographics information at http://www.census.gov.

Of course the best way to find out about an area is to actually visit that area and look around. Don't be afraid to ask people who live in the area about what they like and don't like. Get in touch with a good agent who specializes in relocations to help you with your move and can provide you with other information such as the transportation system, area hospitals and museums. Philly has a lot to offer its residents.

Best of luck!

Believe it or not, the best person to answer your question is you. I see you are outside the US so how can you drive by? That is what you need to do. Saturdays are good when the neighbors are around. Friday night is good too. Who is around? How do you feel when you are walking around? If you are concerned about crime, look for the nearest police officer. Or go to the nearest precinct.
