Yes you should study RENT vs BUY options as you may even qualify to buy with minimum out of pocket expenses and pay less than rent in many cities. You should also study the links below for crime and schools too.

Theses links should have the answers to any questions you may have on schools:

Well "best" would be defined by you. We as agents know what particular neighborhoods have to offer but only you can determine if they "best" suit your needs. The schools in Lake Forest, Mission Viejo and Rancho Santa Margarita are all not bad.

Check out these homes available for lease in those areas and let me know if you have any questions or would like to meet and discuss things more in detail.

Yes, Irvine has good schools but if your kid is not already a good student he will suffer more academically and probably get lower grades in an environment that's 70% Asian student population. Asian students get send to after school tutoring classes so be prepared to do that in order to compete with other tiger moms in the area. We live in Mission Viejo, schools are still very good. I want my kid to have a life outside of the classroom and participate in sports not just getting drilled in math and sciences.

Ummm....no, rons it's a TRUE statement. Trouble with the truth? Irvine schools are becoming mainland china schools. Not to mention your child will be an outcast if the first gens find out they don't drive a BMW and live in a rental.

What an ignorant and racist statement.

Hello Evaboston,

As far as the "best" neighborhood in the Big OC, I believe it would depend on who you ask. Many people love their areas (and that's probably why they live there), and would feel that it's the best area. I noticed you mentioned "best schools" which brings me to of course Irvine, that is well known for its school district. So, if you also want a view, then Quail Hill in Irvine might suit your needs. Some of the homes have views and the schools that are in this area have great reputations. The elementary school is Alderwood. It is newer and has unbelievable parent support. The kids playground has beautiful views of the hills and greenery everywhere. The High School is University High and is top in the Nation. It is surrounded by wildlife, hiking trails, community pools, parks, tennis and basketball courts, etc... I don't think you can go wrong with most places in Orange County. It is a great place to live and has many nice cities. Remember though, the nicer the place the more you will pay in rent. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Blessings,

It does exist, in several areas. It depends on what type of living style you prefer. Ladera Ranch has excellent schools, and beautiful, newer homes. Laguna Hills has equestrian lots where you can accommodate your horse! Coto De Caza is a beautiful country club community with rolling hills and large lots. Laguna Niguel is closer to the ocean and is a bit cooler that the inland communities. Irvine has excellent schools and beautiful homes as well. You can check demographics and test scores on any of these areas on the internet. Broker Pam

Laguna Beach is a great city, schools are Blue Ribbon Distinguished Schools. Difficult to get a large yard here, but it's possible. I can email you listings if you're interested, if so, send me your email address.
Thanks, Cynthia :)

No 'steering' from this corner. "Best" is relative to what you enjoy the most about a certain area. Give us your criteria; ocean close, view, pool, etc. You have alot of options at $4000 a month.

Totally agree !

I agree with Ron,

Such a subjective question and so many different factors will affect each person's answers. Take into consideration your needs: schools, commute or commuter access, walk to shopping, close to beaches, warmer weather, cooler weather, time to work/school, near your favorite restaurants, and on, and on...

Only you can answer that question for yourself.

You could start a riot with a question like this:
People are pretty protective of their environs, and they have some pretty nice environs:
Newport
Balboa
Dana Point
Irvine
Laguna Niguel
Mission Viejo
Not a ringer in the bunch.
Take your pick!
