Should have added, that we typically are the "source of the source". This is vs being the direct source. I will follow responses with interest.

I see a lot of questions regarding crime. Are agents in the local area really open to answer this question?

I've always thought it an unfortunate part of the real estate business that Realtors cannot give their knowledge and opinions of crime and desirability of one neighborhood vs. the next. Because in my opinion that is precisely much of the value that a Realtor brings to the table for a buyer.

Unfortunately I haven't found any of those sites to give a really good idea of a comparison of one zip code to another and one neighborhood to another in the way they display their data graphically.

No one mentioned using this site so am going to add it on here for your review: http://www.crimemapping.com/

Realtors are legally limited about what can say regarding any given neighborhood - so that is why we are referring you to resources where you can check out crime and safety information for yourself,.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.
