The neighborhood is known for it's five and six-story prewar and post war apartment building and single family houses with tree-lined streets. Many public and parochial schools are scattered throughout this 16-block neighborhood.
The neighborhood is home to many historic landmarks and parks including Fort George built by George Washington during the Revolutionary war because it has the highest natural hill in the city.

I would recommend using the very user friendly crime statistics map provided by the NYPD. You can even type in your address.

New Restaurants and Cafes are constantly being added and upgraded. A great number of parks and walking trails makes Hudson Heights a great neighborhood for your furry friends.

having lived in this neighborhood for 40 years and knowing some of the rift raft as well, I can assure you that theres very little crime in this area. all the criminals are either dead or just getting out after serving a long stretch in an upstate prision and are retired. what you will contend with is the noise in the summer months and the late hanging out . having said that, it happens only on the week end.

Go for it I know the neighborhood and service it . It can be a bit loud in the summer time .. But over all you are close to both 1, and A trains....

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

Realtors are not allowed to comment on neighborhoods or schools, but we can be the "source of the source." There are many websites that will provide information and you can also contact the local police department for crime rate stats.

If you go to http://www.GladstoneGroupRealty.com, you will find a link to school reports.

Hi, you can visit http://www.Homefair.com and http://www.SpotCrime.com for in-depth crime stats and area demographics. The other option is to contact the local police dept.

Hello D.lee-sam that area of Fort George is protected by the NYPD's 34th Precinct, you can check out the latest crime statistics here; http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/downloads/pdf/crime_statistics/…

Hi D.Lee,

The area is nice and its very kid and pet friendly. It can get noisy in the summer, just like other areas of the city. As far as crime in the area I would suggest looking at the crime statistics report for the area.
