Excellent question, an easement is a right to use the land of another for a specific purpose, such as for a right-of-way or for utilities. An easement by prescription is an easement acquired by continuous, open, and hostile use of the property for at least 15 years! You can find out more about easements by prescription in Section 47-37, Chapter 822 of the Connecticut General Statutes.

I know a few great real estate attorneys that you can have your friend speak with. If she is interested, she can find me at http://www.MeridenRealEstateExpert.com
