"safe" is relative - Trulia has good crime maps on their website to help you determine if a neighborhood is safe for you. If you do find that it safe via the crime map, I always suggest talking to neighbors to see what they have to say about the area's crime. In addition, many neighborhoods have online list serves that you can join to find out what's going on the neighborhood. You could do a google search - Mosswood Park Nieghborhood, Oakland, CA - and find their list serve.

Good question that only you can answer. What you need to to is visit the neighborhood that you intend to move to during the day and night-weekday and weekend. This will give you an idea if the area is safe for you. Also, this neighborhood is next door to Piedmont, a city that has an excellent reputation for being safe with lots of places to shop! Hi Connie,

As my colleagues have suggested, "safe" is subjective. This is a very important issue, and I advise doing research to make sure you are knowledgeable and familiar with the neighborhood you are interested in. For some people, car break-ins means the neighborhood isn't safe.

I always suggest looking at the crime stats in a neighborhood, but along with that, go to a NCPC or block club meeting and talk to the local cops and neighbors there. Call the local City Council District office and you can get a lot of info about the neighborhood. Most if not all of Mosswood is in District One, Jane Brunner's District. You can get crime info, neighborhood meeting info and Council District info from the City of Oakland website: http://www.oaklandnet.com If possible, go spend time in the neighborhood and talk to people. Neighbors are usually very glad to tell you the good and bad aspects of their own neighborhood. Good luck.

Safety or feeling safe is very subjective. In reality There is not a safe place on planet earth. Your best bet is to go to the city of oakland web page and click on the crime map. I do not have the link on my smartphone or I would send it to you now. best of luck to you.

Hi, Agents are prohibited by license laws from talking about safety in a neighborhood. We can be the source of the source though. You can visit http://www.HomeFair.com and click on the city reports section for in-depth crime stats and area demographics. Other options are http://www.spotcrime.com and calling the local police dept.
