The only thing I would add is BEFORE you check the statistics anywhere, check your current neighborhood, first an duse that as a base-line. Or, check other neighborhoods you are currently familiar with and feel comfortable in. It would surprise you to see the "statistics" in what seem to be safe places.

Happy hunting!

I'm an agent and reading some of these answers would scare the wits out of me if I was a buyer. Yes, be sure to do your due diligence, but Curtis Park is a sought after area.

Mr. Janbakhsh,
Curtis Park is a community of older established homes, each home unique in character, clean and well kept, very nice surrounding. Near freeways, parks, schools. As far as it being a safe neighborhood I would direct you to the crime map report http://crimemap.sacsheriff.com/cvc I would suggest you drive, walk the area at various times of the day to ensure your satifaction as to what makes you feel safe.

I say to you Sir, we don't know the day nor the hour that crime can strike, but we must always be vigilant. Be trully apart of the community that you choose to reside in, be involved with neighorhood watch. Yes, be your neighbors keeper, kept your family, home and property safe.

Happy Home shopping!

Gosh, I feel I missed something because I don't see Jacques answer!

Mamud, it is against federal law for any licensed agent to answer this question. they all gave you the right answers to find that out for yourself. And honestly, it's a very personal decision. Even if you call the police department and ask 'is such and such a safe neighborhood?' they most likely will not answer. Not that it isn't safe but it's called steering and illegal. Even the most expensive, gated communities could be 'unsafe' depending on your criteria....so talk to neighbors, check the crime statistics, and drive/walk the neighborhood at various times of the day. That will give you the best indication.

Its a great neighborhood with a lot of character! Its near William Land Park, Sacramento City College and close to the major freeways. I doubt you will be disappointed at all. Jacque gave an awesome description below.

Jacque gave you a very good description of the Curtis Park neighborhood. Makes me want to just hang out there for the day and have a picnic in the park.

For all areas you should check with the police or sheriffs departments for crime statistics. You should also inspect areas visually and one investor I know calls Dominos Pizza and If they will not dliver to the area he considers it unsafe. When Inspecting areas I suggest a visit on the weekend, during the week and at night to get a good feel for the area. What I would consider safe and what others consider safe is different for each person. So Inspect it yoursself and ask the authorities and ask the neighbors. It is a predominatley rental area of duplexes.

Hi Mamud...Curtis Park is an older established Sacramento neighborhood and your level of comfort would depend on how safe it is to you. It is definitely not a private gated area, but also not a war zone. I would however be comfortable walking my dog in the evening.....Regards Wendy

http://crimemap.sacsheriff.com/cvc/ will give you the crime statistics, which is a place to start your research. Like Tony said, it's best to visit the neighborhood yourself at different times of the day and evening. Compare work week days and weekend days. Visit parks in the neighborhood as that can tell you a lot about what's going on.

The best thing you can do is visit the neighborhood personally at varied times of the day and do some online research which should help you in making your determination.
