Is Tanglewood a safe neighborhood?

Asked by mandysmith210, San Antonio, TX Sun May 6, 2012

I found a house that I LOVE in that neighborhood. I haven't lived in SA that long, but my husband has and he said he has heard some bad things about the neighborhood. We have a 2 year old, so I want to make sure it's a good place for him to grow up. Can someone please give me advice?

Mandy, I hope you have found the answer you were looking for from the answers below. One of my clients recently bought a home in Tanglewood. My client was very diligent and researched everything he could on the home and the area. After all of his research, he did finally purchase in Tanglewood. It was a foreclosure, he has been there now for 6 months, and is very happy with the decision he has made. He has no kids yet, but plans on raising a family there. If he believes it is safe, I would move there.

good Luck.

One of my favorite questions... as there really is no neighborhood anywhere that is 100% crime free.. You can get acutal stats from SAPD by going here:

Tanglewood is in the Clark H.S. district... and that has always been one of the better schools in San Antonio... and I have not really heard any bad things about Tanglewood. I know that I have sold quite a few homes in that neighborhood on the buyer side, and none of them have called me to re-sell them... so I can only assume.. they are happy ;)

If the home fits what you are looking for, and the price is good... and when you drive around the neighborhood it feels like home... I think you are in good shape.

Let me know if I can help you get a better deal on the home... That's the fun part.. Seeing how low we can get the seller to go ;)

Hello Mandy, in general it is a safe neighborhood, but You should have your Realtor to give you all the information you need before even considering looking for a house. I just closed a sale in Tanglewood, and my clients are more than happy and satisfied.
Good luck.

Dear Mandy Smith,

I totally understand you want your child to grow up in a safe neighborhood. To be really certain, check the SAPD website for info on that address or zip code. Here is the web site: Keep in mind though, crime could happen everywhere at any time. It is always wise to take your own measures of precaution to be safer. When you shop for a home, make sure you choose an area with good schools.

There are several web sites where you can look up the statistics for any neighborhood.

Also take into consideration that every part of the city has something to offer.
Where you live, will depend on where you work, where you want your kids to go to school and how much you want to spend on your home.

I hope that was helpful.

If you need more assistance you can call me at 830-765-0346

Good luck in your home search, Terry

As safe as any in town! Common sense says crime happens everywhere. Staying vigilant is important.
