Jan Peterson, Other/Just Looking in Palm Beach Gardens, FL

I thought this home was considered in Uptown not Oak Lawn. Where are the Oak Lawn boundaries?

Hi Jan,

Oak Lawn is pretty much South of Avondale / Fitzhugh and uptown is East of Oaklawn to Central 75. There really isn't any official boundaries but I hope this helps.

GOOD LUCK.

As a 35 year resident of Oaklawn, I can answer your question. Uptown is part of Oaklawn; it always has been. It was previously referred to as the McKinney Avenue section of Oaklawn, and prior to redevelopment, was filled with antique shops and neighborhood restaurants. Some dozen years ago, developers decided to rename it Uptown and to insist it was a separate neighborhood in an attempt to give it a great deal more cachet than "Oaklawn Proper." The property you are referring to is actually in the State Thomas section of Uptown/Oaklawn.

Great question and great answers! Oak Lawn and Uptown do tend to meld together similar to how Universoty Park and Highland Park have become to be known as the Park Cities. All are very different but have been referred to as one general area.

If you're looking at 2436 Worthington, it IS in Uptown. It's technically in the State Thomas Neighborhood of Uptown.

Only city of Dallas would be official for Oak Lawn bounderies

IF you can forward a direct link happy to assist with any questions you may have. I use to reside not far from there on Turtle Creek, I have many clients in Uptown, Oaklawn, Highland Park, Turtle Creek area(s)

Jan,

What a great question! Unfortunately your link did not come through, so I'm not sure where the home is located, but technically Uptown is part of Oak Lawn. See this map for the Oak Lawn Neighborhood Association on the City of Dallas' web site:

I think, and depending on who you ask, the Uptown boundaries are Fitzhugh (although some will say Knox), to US 75, to Woodall Rogers, to Harry Hines, to Turtle Creek BLVD and back to Fitzhugh. The City of Dallas has a map of the Uptown Public Improvement District:

I hope that helps.

Best Regards,

Rich

I generally think of Oak Lawn as being a section of Uptown, sort of how Knox/Henderson is a section of Uptown.

Not sure there is an official boundry, but I would somewhat consider Turtle Creek to be the border?...Uptown to the East...Oaklawn to the West.

We did not get the link to the house, so not sure which one interested you.
