Debora,

I assume that since you're looking for a deed you are selling a house, townhouse or condo and not a coop? To make things simplier for, you, call your real estate attorney, bank and title company that help your in your original sale of this property. Did you pay cash or get a mortgage?

Check with your attorney , building managing agent, title company , or County Clerks office in lower Manhattan but most easily if you have a mortgage - your bank - they usually keep the original - you would have lost a copy. They can supply you with another copy.

You can check with the attorney who handled your closing, or see link below.

You can certainly call the Attorney ( or Title Co. ) that closed your loan or go online or to your registry of deeds to receive a copy. Either one should be quick and inexpensive.

Good morning Debora,

You can locate a certified copy of your Deed at the County Clerk's office. For Manhattan the office is:
New York County Courthouse
60 Centre Street, Room 161
New York, New York 10007

You can also locate a copy online using NYC ACRIS website: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dof/html/jump/acris.shtml
