Get involved in your local Chamber of Commerce, Church, neighborhood association, school, ect. Run an ad in your local newspaper, I put mine in the sports section. Do lots of volunteer work. I had alot of response years back on a magazine that was geered to the homeowner with great articles, ect. That really got me started. I focused on a great older neighborhood and two other smaller ones. The extra mags i took to the hospital and drs. offices and set them out in the waiting rooms. After 2 years i stopped and i recieved so many calls from people that missed recieving it, even the drs offices. The cost was 0 to me. the inside cover and back cover was paid advertising by mortgage co. attorneys, ect.

Donna,

What ever you decide on, make sure you make a follow up plan and stick with it. I have about 4 neighborhoods that I farm, I make sure they recieve something by me at least 10 times a year. I have even gone door to door to introduce myself. This business does not always work on the shortest time, it will sometimes be months before your marketing kicks in, that is why to see results you must maintain what you are doing.

Some realtors do not believe in farming, but in this market you need to try everything and figure out what works for you and what doesn't.

Be Active in the comminity, drop off water bottles to the local pool with your name on them. Who wouldn't appreciate that on a 90 degree day.

I recently put up in my own neighborhood, a community website for everyone, it's a place to share photos, ideas, community events etc: but it is also a way for me to let everyone know that I am in real estate. At 4th of July I sent out a fireworks schedule to everyone in my sphere.

Post Cards like mentioned earlier is another good idea.

Donna
If it is a small area go by and drop off your info. If you do not have email use postcards as 2nd choice if it is a large area. The main thing is to set up a schedule for contacting them and keep to it. Out of sight, out of mind.

Look for meet-up groups. Join several that interest you and go to as many as you can every week. Make personal friends in these groups and that will help.

Next pick up the following book....http://www.gmarketing.com/ from your local library and start making inroads according to the advice in that book.

Real Estate is picking up in the Tampa Bay Area...Because of contacts that I made and continue to make; I have done 4 interviews (3 radio, 1 TV) in the past two weeks.

Then contact me for more ideas.... Gary@DePury.com I will give you one that will blow your socks off.
