Winter on Nantucket is a peaceful, quiet time of the year. Weather tends to be relatively mild for New England, snowfalls are especially beautiful.

Winters are very quiet but beautiful. Some people think it's the best time to enjoy the island.

Winters can be mild and can be harsh. So far the fall has been sensational. Today is a perfect day... crystal clear blue skies and lemon yellow sun. Yummy day!!!!

Winter on Nantucket is a time to reconnect with family and friends. During the busy summer months we sometimes don't get the chance to catch up with our year round friends. It is also a great time to reconnect with the community and all it has to offer in the off season. Many of the restaurants have weekly specials and there is no line at the movies!

During the winter Nantucket is slightly warmer then the mainland due to the surrounding ocean, which means very little snow fall accumulation that melts quickly with the salty air/roads. There are a handful of local restaurants at different price points that stay open year round. February is the most desolate with most families leaving the island for school break. It is calm and very peaceful.

Do you mean the weather or the general atmosphere of the island for year round residents?

My friends who live on the island LIVE for late fall, winter, and early spring when the island is 'theirs'.
