It is very difficult for real estate agents to discuss schools and neighborhoods. There are fair housing laws that have to be abided to as well as ones opinion is very subjective on these matters.

As far as schools go here are a couple of great sites to get an idea of the school system:

http://www.greatschools.org/search/search.page?c=school&…

http://www.bostonmagazine.com/2010_school_rankings/index.html

As far as neighborhoods go, spend some time in the neighborhoods and see if it is an area you are comfortable with.

Hi, You can go to http://www.HomeFair.com for in-depth crime stats and area demographics, click on the City Reports section. As for schools, you can go to http://www.SchoolDigger.com and http://www.GreatSchools.org for great school reports.

The 02745 area is pretty big. Some neighborhoods are great, some are not so great. Same thing for the schools, depending on which age group you are looking for. The far north end of New Bedford is nice, but the area near Nash Rd isn't the greatest. You will be able to tell just by driving up the street..there are big differences. I think Trulia is good because at the bottom of the page a house is listed on, you can click crimes, schools, etc and the map will give you a nice description, thats what I use. Hope this helped! Good Luck!

The answers you will get from those who are willing to answer and not direct you to another website will be relative to their personal taste and experience. Some will be positive and others may not be.

I would meet the principals or superintendent of the schools and ask for their data, certifications, accreditations, etc. Where do their graduates go to college? Then I'd interview the police chief, fire chief, etc. I'd also look at the register of sex offender book in the police station to see who and where they are for that area.

Use this website for schools:
http://www.greatschools.org/

The other agents make good rec's. Drive through the neighborhood and eat lunch or dinner in the area to get a sense of the community and amenities.

I agree with Kevin, as a REALTOR there are laws and codes of ehtics that we must follow. I would recomend driving through the area and taking a look around, possibly checking out the local schools websites or the city's school department websites or the greater new bedford board of realtors website for consumer information to narrow down your ideal location within the city. I hope that this information helps you in researching the best location fit for your needs.
