This can actually change neighborhood to neighborhood in Texas. Many neighborhoods may or may not have extra improvement taxes that can change rates. However typically in that area the tax values are lower than purchase prices.

In Texas we have both personal and real estate property taxes. The real estate taxes are a percentage of the appraised value of the property and are set each year by the school district, city, county where the property is located. Some areas also have a community college tax, a transit authority tax and other taxes. Fortunately, each listing on any MLS based site will have the real estate property tax for that property listed. Many Realtors have web sites that give you access to those listings. Some are easier to use than others. My site has an extremely easy yet robust map search feature for all listings including foreclosures and bank owned properties. It also has a luxury property search feature.

Property taxes in Southlake, in the Carroll ISD & Tarrant Co. are as follows:
Tarrant County: 0.264000
Tarrant County Hospital Dist: : 0.227890
Tarrant County College Dist: : 0.137960
City Of Southlake: 0.462000
Isd - Carroll: 1.415000
These are 2008 numbers, as 2009 will not come out until October. The total is 2.51%
Some properties in Southlake are in the Keller ISD & in Grapevine ISD. There are also some properties in Grapevine that are in the Carroll ISD.
