I have 9/10's of an acre on 200 feet of lakeshore with 3 cabins and would like to divide the lot into halves.

Can this be done with less than an acre, and if so, how do I go about it?

Kris,

Before you do anything you need to talk to the city, township or county planning and zoning department to find out what their rules and requirements are for lot splitting. Typically you will need to fill out an application and submit a survey showing the property boundaries with the proposed lot split. It then will go before the P & Z board for recommendation for approval or denial and then be sent to the counsel or board for final approval.
Hope that helps a little!
