How can I find homes sold for around $500,000 between 1998 and 2000 in Oakland, CA?
Hi there!
A number of sites give you this information. It is much more significant if you can narrow it down to a neighborhood or zip code. For example, it was possible in 1998-1999 to buy a nice home in Montclair for that price point. The zip code there is 94611. Zillow and Cyberhomes are good places to begin. If you have a question about a particular area, either Lisa or I can steer you to the right information. :)
All the best!

Homes bought and sold is public record and you can find on a variety of sites. In addition, a Realtor has ready access to this information via the MLS as well. If you are looking to compare a particular property I would suggest that you narrow down your search from the entire city of Oakland to the particular area that you have in mind. Oakland is a very diverse and rather large city geographically so what one home sold for in one neighborhood can meet something very different than if another home sold in a different neighborhood at one price.
I did a quick search of the MLS and in Oakland between 1999 and 2000 294 homes sold in the price range of $475,000 t0 $525,000
