The department of Licensing only requires 60 clock hours of training and you have to pass a test to get your real estate license. If you are looking at becoming a real estate agent as a career I want to give you a piece of advise. First of all the classes you take to get your license is only the beginning of what you need to learn. You have a couple of choices on how to proceed. If you can find a successful busy agent that is willing to show you the ropes I would grab the opportunity. It is much harder to try to figure out all the details of writing up a contract on your own and you have a greater chance of making a mistake. Another option is to take more classes right away. Interview with different offices to see what kind of training program they have to offer.

You don't need a business license for most real estate purchases or investments, but as others have indicated, there are several areas that you might benefit from consulting with a professional in. What is it that you want to start? If you want to purchase properties for yourself, you do not need a business or real estate license. If you want to rehab properties for a profit, and wish to set up accounts with material yards, you may need a business license. Check with your local suppliers and municipal offices. If you want to represent or assist another buyer or seller in their transaction, you will need a real estate license.
