George - from the responses you have been inundated with great agents. I see many are on the north side. If you have any clients who are looking further south in the Clear Lake, League City area of Houston (around NASA) please feel free to send them my way. It is literally an hour drive (with no traffic) from Clear Lake to Spring, Woodlands, Tomball area. Until 9 years ago, our family lived in San Diego (born and raised there) which gives me a unique insight into helping those moving to the area. CCISD has great schools here too!
I'm sorry you had such bad luck in the past getting agents to respond. They might be like me and get inundated by companies trying to sell leads, or your emails are flagged as SPAM. Email me direct if I can help.

When you look at a listing with the agent who has that listing, that agent has already been hired by the seller of that home to represent his or her best interests - not yours. Here are five reasons why
You can not live in The Heights without sending your kids to private school. Period, end of discussion unless you really dont like your kids that much..... Also you can not live in The Heights and send your kids to Katy ISD they are two different school districts. I moved to Katy specifically for the schools and its the best move I have ever made for my family. If you work downtown the drive will be a nightmare but if you are anywhere in West Houston its an easy commute. Good luck with your search and let me know if you want a non bias answer.... more

Many people spend a large portion of time indoors - as much as 80-90% of their lives. We work, study, eat, drink and sleep in enclosed environments where air circulation may be restricted. For these reasons,
I know this is old but I had to comment on Al Geffon's comment. What he had right is that Summerwood is a lovely community, having lived here for 6 years. The area is growing fast and retail is moving in in the same way that the master planned community is built. Where he misses the boat on is his proximity to Houston comment. Summerwood is less than 30 minutes to downtown Houston during rush hour. Try that from anywhere else in Houston counting Clear Lake, Spring/Woodlands and Katy. Forget Cypress. Also, traffic in the NE corridor of Houston is the lightest of all areas around town. Finally, the Exxon campus is further to the North rather than South. What is being planned near Summerwood, almost adjacent is Generation Park which will bring new jobs and will help to strenghten the housing market already booming in this area. Look up Generation Park for more info.

Congrats on the new job! Be sure to throw away any and all winter clothes-you will not be needing them anymore. It is summer here from April to November. The heat is BRUTAL AND STIFLING. Maryland has very nice seasons, I lived in Laurel, MD and loved the weather there.
Houston is a fine city and offers a lot for people to do there. I grew up in Houston and spent most of my life there. What factors are going to be the important to you? Are you looking for schools, entertainment, or the less stressful drive possible?
If you are looking for the least stressful drive to Downtown possible, and don't mind living in an urban area, then the Inner Loop is where you want to be. Several neighborhoods in this part of town are being densely built with new townhomes. This is particularly so in The Heights, Memorial and Waugh, Midtown, and East Downtown. If you are looking for a good mix of housing styles and closeness to work, focus around The Heights and Washington Heights. That area has some eclectic restaurants, shopping, and offers a light-traffic commute into town via Memorial. Also, as a tip from a long-time Houstonian, Memorial Dr will likely get you from Point A to Point B much faster than IH-10 will!
Good luck on your home search, and welcome to Houston!... more
