Hi Saima,
The best time to sell a house is when you need to sell. That could be because you have a contract for another property, your job takes you to another city or state, etc..
If one does not need to sell, it's not a good time to sell.
I'd be happy to sit down with you and help you determine if this is a good time for you to sell or if waiting a year, two or more is better.

Dear Saima: Traditionally, spring is the best season for real estate. Sales really take off in April and May and stay consistent in June and July. It’s a good season for folks to move, between school years and while the weather is warm. People have just received their tax refunds, which they can use to help finance a down payment. And the nice weather and beautiful flowers in spring and early summer make it a great time to show your home. In fact, 60 percent of America’s moves take place in the summer. But closing a sale can take several weeks, so it’s a good idea to list your home early in the Spring.
Saima,
I would think it depends on your motivation for selling. If you are just going to put it out there to see what happens, I would think about waiting. If you really need to sell....the sooner the better. There is a lot of inventory for people to look at.
Depends on if you are also buying another home or just selling.
If you need to sell for whatever reason, you will be competing with all of the Sellers that have to sell and with those properties that have already been taken over by the bank. You are going to sell low... if you sell.
But, if you are also going to buy, you will way more than make up the difference on the other end if you get connected with a good Realtor that really knows how the game is played.
I don't know where 60714 is but I hope you find that Realtor.
Traditionally, I think putting a property on the market in the spring was the best time. In the current market, I am not sure if that's still true. I think the answer to your question will depend on your personal circumstances. If you need to sell because you can't afford to pay the mortgage, putting the property on the market as soon as possible is imperative. If you don't need to sell, I think you may want to put the property on the market after the holidays.
if you have to sell, then the sooner you get your home on the market the better.
if you dont have to and you can wait ...... then you should. ;)
