selling an 1870 historical home

Asked by phloxfairy928, New London, CT Wed Jun 4, 2014

When selling an 1870 historical home that needs a lot of cosmetic updating,
plumbing and electrical. How could you price it. It needs new ceilings, walls and the hardwood floors need to be refinished. It may or may not have lead paint, not sure yet.

I agree. I would check with the national historic foundation in your area to see what they say. They may give money to restore the house to the condition it was back then. May even offer to buy it and do the work. More so if it is in a historical area

I strongly urge you to contact the historical society in your area. In some cases, they will offer a contribution to those repairs as long as you are keeping within their guidelines. (staying within the confines of the definition of that particular historical home)
