Uh, they want the commission from the home sale so they can pay last months rent on their leased automobile and keep the repo man away for another month. Amazing how Realtors(tm) claim renting is for loosers, but are quick to rent high end pretentious automobiles.

Thanks, Janine. I will be more direct. A collegue at work suggested I get a second agent to focus on the rental? I had some additional questions: What is a reasonable time period "exclusive right to sell" contract? How are the fees handled if the house is neither rented nor sold at the specified time period under the right to sell? Thanks!

Tell your agent you want her/him to focus on getting the home rented instead of sold. If he/she doesn't follow direction, switch agents. This is your home, and the agent should follow your wishes.
