Yes. Most court records are online. They will not only show the sales date, name of principals, and other information, but they may also indicate the type of sale being fair market or non fair market. But what does the history of a 1950 or 1980 sale have to do with curent value? Current conditons? Current market?

Even a sale date of yesterday may not indicate the true market value of a property! With mortgage fraud creating over inflated prices and distress sales under market prices. Historic sales is not a good measure for determining value. Did the buyer yesterday install all new appliances, roof, paint, inground pool, and a sunroom since closing? Did the new owner burn it down yesterday? The sale may or may not reflect true market value depending on too many variables than just a date.

You can find them for most addresses on Trulia - just search the address from the Trulia.com home page or any page within "find homes".
Recent sales are available here: http://www.trulia.com/sold/23321_zip/ .

Any Real Estate Agent with access to the local MLS can give the history of a home. It is a simple report to obtain and I provide this information to all of my clients for any home in which they are interested.

You can go to the city's tax assessor site. This will give the tax value for the city, additional information on the property description and sales history.
