The best place to search for a home to KNOW that the status is correct is http://www.2hdb.com/CathyChapman.
This is a direct link in to the Multiple Regional Information System which is the system the realtor population uses. I pay to give my clients access to this system so that if they see a property they have questions about, they can click a link and their question will come straight to me.
Most likely the property dropping from the websites is that it has gone Under Contract, has been Withdrawn or has been sold. If you'd like to send me the address, I'll check it out and let you know what's happening with it.

Hi Skywalker:
1) Properties which attain CONTRACT status can still have a financing contingency. I have seen some of these even with the HOA documents delivery contingency.
2) While there may be some web-sites where these may continue to appear, an agent with access to MRIS would be able to track these for you. There has been many cases where a good buyer agent tracked such properties and when the financing for the first buyer fell through, came through with a great deal for his/her buyer client.
Removal from websites can mean a number of things.
Yes, it could mean that it is under contract.
It could also mean that the home has been withdrawn from the market either permanently or temporarily.
A real estate agent can let you know what category the particular home you are interested in falls into.
