This is just a broad generalization. There are a lot more properties for sale than their are buyers.
And mortgages/money is not as easy to get as a few years ago.
My husband & I are looking at RE around Ducktown, but most people have the prices property sold at a few years back locked in their heads. Or they may be upside-down and owe more that it's worth now.
I was going to look at 80 acres in a couple weeks for $3K and acre (I actually am going to look at several other large pieces at $3K - 6K/acre), I was scheduling with this owner to day and he said, "Oh no, he had meant $30,000./acre". I thanked him for his time and am moving on. He will own that place until he dies, and his relatives sell it for what it is really worth.
