Not sure whether you are planning on making a purchase or planning on selling your home, so I will answer in both ways.

Property owners cannot list their own home on Trulia. There many be a title company or attorney that is set up to facilitate the closing, however, the BUYER will not be afforded many of the protections that they would if they had an experienced Realtor working on their behalf. There are many services that a Realtor® provides, too numerous to list here, but you can review the services at the following link: . For purchases $70,000 and up, HomeNet offers a $500.00 cash rebate at closing… .

I think Trulia is a great resource. I spend a lot of time answering questions on Trulia to assist both buyers in sellers. Obviously, my career is in real estate, and I believe that there are tremendous benefits to a property owner to use a good Realtor® in selling their home. You can list your home on Trulia, but that is just on source. When you list your home with a good Realtor®, you will enjoy convenience, security, and the possibility that you will sell your home more quickly for a better price than you would selling on your own. When a Realtor® lists your home, your listing can go in the MLS where your home will get in front of thousands of Realtor® who are working with many prospective buyers. You can also choose in your listing agreement to have your property listing go onto the Internet at which point the listing will propagate to hundreds of other real estate websites on the Internet including Trulia, Zillow,, Oodle, Yahoo, everywhere. This exposure will greatly increase your chance of obtaining a buyer at a price that is higher than what you may have received otherwise. HomeNet offers a 4% home marketing plan that is FULL SERVICE, not LIMITED SERVICE which you can read more about at the following link: .

There is a saying that "Only a fool will hire themselves as an attorney". I have been in the real estate industry for 28 years, and in that 28 years I have gained a wealth of experience and I am firm believer that a good Realtor® is the most important choice a home seller and buyer can make.

Good question. Suzanne answered it thoroughly.
For access to the most reliable database of homes for sale, you need access to the Mid-Florida Multiple Listing Service.

Your real estate can also assist in the pruchase of those homes offered directly by the owner.

Hi Marianne,

If I understand your question correctly, you want to know if you can buy a for sale by owner home that is listed here. First of all, homes listed for sale on any website have to be purchased from the owner, who may or may not be using a real estate agent to assist them in the sale. These websites, as well as the multiple listing service and other websites, are just avenues for advertising the home. Second, Trulia only posts listings from Real Estate Agents, it is not a 'for sale by owner' site. Also, there are some listings here that are fed from Reaty Trac, which posts pre-foreclosure listings. Those homes may not even be available for purchase at all, it is merely a listing of homes where the owners have not been able to pay their mortgage and the home has gone into some stage of the foreclosure process.

The best thing you can do if you want to purchase (or sell) a home is to contact a good, local real estate agent to assist you in the process.

I hope that helps.
