Would my fathers brothers and sisters be intitled to land inherited by his brother?

my uncle died a few years ago and now his wife has died they had no children, Now her brothers and sisters are selling the land. Would my fathers family have any right to stop the sell of this land? They did not offer to sell it back to my fathers family. My uncle got this land from my grandfater. So they did not buy this land together it was given to them. My uncle when he was alive told several different neices and newphews he wanted them to have the land. I need to now if we have any right to this land.

It depends if there was a will or if he deeded any part to your father. Your best bet is to talk to an attorney who may be able to review this for you and maybe look into the probate actions and executors decisions. Good luck Barbara

Decedent's estates pass either though a Will, a Trust or by a descent and distribution statute.
If a person's interest passed by one of these methods to their spouse, then at the spouses' death the property will pass though the spouse through one of the above methods. Probate records are public. Check and see what the Will of your uncle and your aunt contains or if there was a trust or if the property passed by statute. Then talk to an attorney to explain it to you and see if there are any remedies or claims available to you and yours.

Barbara:

Did your uncle's wife have a will or is the estate going through probate. If you would like the name & number of an excellent wills/estate attorney I will be happy to refer you to the same person who did mine.

Barbara,

As Kieth mentioned, this is a good question to refer to an attorney.

Good luck

You will need to discuss this with a probate attorney.
There is a saying the oral promises are worth the paper on which they are written.
Wish I had better news.

Everyone should write a will!
Good luck
