Why does't Porter County post the sales in the unincorporated sections of Valpo. I know that homes have sold

in my area and for anywhere from 289,000 to over $300,000. When you try to look them up on recent sales they do not post. Some of the houses closed in August and September of last year. What is wrong, that doesn't help others which are trying to sell at those levels and there is nothing to compare except for Realtors MLS.

Jackie:
You can go down to the county building in person and find out this information. You may need to know the month the transaction occured, or you'll have to page thru several binders to find the property transaction. It does take a while to post the county record change on the system, so I would recommend a personal visit to get the information you need. Your realtor would be able to help you get this information. House values are tricky, and in today's market some appraisers are having to go back in time to value a home. Foreclosures and short sales make the true non-distressed comps hard to find in certain areas. Let me know if I can be of more assistance. Jackie,

This site is not controlled by the County. This is an independent site that is for informational purposes only. Also, this is not a good website to find comps. If you are trying to sell your home "by owner" you many want to have your home appraised by a professional appraiser. This will be a valuable asset when pricing your home. If you are listed wit an agent they can provide you with the information you need.
