Who has sold the most homes in the last 6 months? I am looking for the realtor that has had the most sales in the last 6 months.

Cheryl to find the Realtor® that has sold the most homes in your area look for the Realtor® that is listing lender owned homes and selling them at half neighborhood value. In most areas currently the Realtors® that have a team set up to service REO properties are going to be the high transaction count Realtors®. That does not mean that they will do a good job on your home just that they sell a lot of distressed properties.

If you're looking for the realtor who has sold the most homes in your area to assist you with purchasing a home, you might want to re-consider. A realtor who sells that many homes might not have the time to give you the personal attention you'll need ....especially if this is your first purchase. If you're looking for a good realtor, consider looking for an full time realtor with at least 5 years experience. Trulia is a good place to start.

First you should ask friends, relatives, or co-workers for a recommendation. Have them describe their experience with the agent and ask why they are recommending that person. You want to choose someone that you feel comfortable in working with.

It is not as important to find a Realtor who has sold the most homes, has the most experience or works for the largest and most well-known company as it is to find someone that is professional. You want an agent that will listen to you, uses ethical conduct, and knows the market.

Keep in mind that in today's market pricing and marketing that maximizes your exposure are paramount--without either, it doesn't matter who the agent is--therefore, consider interviewing as many agents as needed from different realty offices and choose the one you like best and has the most to offer--ask what marketing strategies will be implemented; what plans will be put in place to coordinate meetings with buyers; what feedback (communication) can you expect and with what frequency; will data be supplied to help establish a fair and marketable asking price; will buyers be pre-screened and required to have mortgage pre-approvals when submitting offers; what other services does the agency offer, etc.; choose your agent with care.
