Nothing like the resurrection of a 2009 question. this question may be as relevant as the previous 'should I install shag carpet' question also from 2009.
The questioner did find their way to Truila to register and post the question. Anyone who has spent two minutes on the internet quickly realizes big G is the provider of volumes of data. A quick query of big G will produces a 'gazillion' responses and options. A true DIY treasure trove. If Todd found his way to Trulia, wouldn't it be reasonable Todd also is aware of big G?
Either Todd has counter-intentions (get agents to promote non-agent resources) or Todd, as an aspiring but not inspired, DIY home seller, is not adequately prepared. Such folks as Todd should be offered the guide every agent has to aid those DIY home sellers. At least, with this initial contact Todd would have a wing-man to possibly steer him away from catastrophic consequences.
Five years of real estate turbulence has passed and the "Todds" will start to re-appear. Professionals should be prepared to offer meaningful help for those who are willing to accept the same. So, 2013 would be a good time to update those guides and get them ready for those who are open to guidance from the experts.
Stop giving stuff away.
Best of success to you,

Kerry's advice is spot on if you are doing a FSBO.

If not, why the resistance to a full service agent?

Don't look at the commission - look at what you will net from the sale. The important financial analysis for you - as a seller - is how much money you put in your checking account after the closing.

When you sell yur home as a FSBO, you do not automatically "save" the commission. It is a tough world right now when negotiating real estate transactions. Savvy agents knows lots of ways to save you money in negotiations. We earn a commission by helping you net more cash from the closing.

Hi Todd,

If you go to postlets.com you can create a free web page for your home and it will also feed your listing data and photos to Trulia and Zillow. The best part... Postlets.com is free!

Best of luck,

Kerry Lucasse

If you are listing your home with a Realtor, they will take care of listing it on multiple sites. If you are doing a For Sale By Owner without the assistance of a Realtor, then there are still numerous sites where you can post your home: Trulia, Zillow, Realtor.com.......etc. Be sure to post numerous photos on these sites! Good Luck.
