What is the typical commission split between the agent representing the buyer and the agent representing the seller?

There are no "typical" commission splits and it is illegal to discuss it. The best way to check on what each agent charges is to interview them and ask them not only how much they charge, but also what they do for you.

Generally there are no typical commission splits, therefore ask your agent the question...

It used to be that a 50/50 splil was the norm, but in recent years it has become more common for the listing agent to receive a greater share. In actuality it is whatever the two firms agree to.
