If you haven't noticed it this is a Question/Thread with the opinions of many agents on Commissions and what they feel they should be... http://www.trulia.com/voices/Home_Selling/Can_low_commission
Good luck, Dunes
Dear Home Seller,
I agree with all the previous agents/brokers who answered your question about commissions...they are right. Agency fees are all negotiable and you do get what you pay for. It's not the fee you should be concerned about but what your agent will put in your pocket. Exposure is the name of the game. Our company has a long history of producing a higher than average selling price for homeowners.
I am a lifetime resident of Garden City and know the town inside and out. I work for the largest real estate company in the tri state area, Prudential Douglas Elliman, and we are #1 in market share on all of Long Island. Our marketing efforts give our clients maximum exposure on the internet which is where 94% of buyers start their search. Most buyers for Garden City are selling their homes in some of our other adjacent market areas so we have an immediate reach to those buyers. Let me know if my team can be of assistance to you.

Everyone is different. The best advice that I can give is to hire someone you trust and feel comfortable with.
Good Evening,
As said below - all real estate commissions are negotiable between the real estate company and home seller.
Having said that, I'll also mention that you usually get what you pay for. In today's economic climate, with the housing market still in a downward spiral, you will want to ensure that your home has maximum exposure 24/7 and is marketed with all available resources so that it sells for the highest possible price in the shortest time within today's market framework. A full service real estate broker, such as myself in conjunction with the resources of the international company, Coldwell Banker, can offer you such services.
Let's get together to explore the ways in which I can assist you in the sale of your home. I am very familiar with both the Garden City neighborhoods and homes and have been in the real estate field for 30 years, first as an attorney and currently, for the past 13 years, as an associate broker. You can contact me directly by phone at (516)410-3594 or by email at Arlynn@ArlynnPalmer.com with any questions and to schedule a No Obligation Appointment.
In the meantime, please visit my website at http://www.ArlynnPalmer.com where you can find FREE Seller and Buyer Reports, FREE School and Neighborhood Reports, my Monthly Newsletter and other valuable real estate information.
Wishing you a good evening,
Regards,
Arlynn

Hope to hear from you soon.
All commissions are negotiable. Just remember if you choose a low budget broker, oftentimes that's all you're getting. Properties need to be priced on target in today's market; you also need as much internet exposure as possible to reach as many buyers as possible--with a low budget they will not be able to pay for services needed to get the job done quickly. Should you need assistance feel free to call or e-mail, know the area well, with many friends who live in your great town.

HOT ANSWER.... All real estate commission rates are negotiable. Company guidelines/policy dictate some commission rates inside that company's organization.... otherwise.... ALL REAL ESTATE RATES ARE NEGOTIABLE. It would be illegal for it to be the "current rate".
