What colors do i use to paint my home? Are neutral colors best? Are there any interior designers in citrus co., like we see on tv, that help?

Hi Tina Haines,
when intending to sell your home, will you be using a local Realtor to market your Home? If you pick the right one who is thinking a little outside the box, he or she may just be able to do some of the staging and color suggestions for your home (each home, depending on style and age and floor plan of the home) may differ from other homes. A Realtor has seen many many homes either the ones he/she listed before or better yet the many the agent has shown to potential buyer clients (so a mixed Agent, i.e. one that is not mostly a listing agent but also a buyers agent, a good 5050 or better will be helpful because when going out with buyers he/she will hear the comments of buyers about decorations, wall colors etc. so very helpful) And if the agent is not ready to do the staging and color suggestions to you, he or she will potentially know a stager!
I as a Realtor, have done a lot of free staging and color suggestions to my Seller clients, and their reaction always was, now the house looks so much nicer, like a new home, "why are we still moving".... that is a grat compliment, and paints (type of paints, color choices and color combinations can make a huge difference and it is probably the least expense to change the first impression of a home.)

If you like me to recommend a local Realtor to you, a trusted partner agent of mine, I gladly would do so...

Consider consulting a local stager in your area. They will view your home and give you detailed recommendations about how to prepare it to appeal to the most buyers. They can also give you suggestions for paint colors. Warm, neutrals are usually best for selling. Search for a local stager at http://www.realestatestagingassociation.com. Good luck!

Some community HOA's have color guidelines for painting homes. You should consider beginning your search for information by first referring to this resource.

We recommend driving through different neighborhoods to get a feel for what colors have the best appeal for homes that are similar to yours. Keep in mind the Florida sun tends to fade some paints resulting in shades that can be quite different from when applied.

Good luck
