We recently inherited a house that needs much cosmetic sprucing in the North HIll area- paint, floors, siding

washed, etc. but the agent stated that they are not worth doing. I felt that without it, their recommended list price was way high. After one month, no offers. I know it's early, but should the work be done first? I would think the return on the small investment will be positive.

I do not know why a realtor would object to cosmetic improvements as they are the cheapest and most productive. The cost is mostly elbow grease and the returns are usually in the thousands of dollars. Either make those improvemants or price it to reflect that they need to be done by the buyer after the sale. Do the scenario you are most comfortable with and disregard the bad advice.

I agree with you! It sounds like the things you mentioned are relatively low cost cosmetic fixes. Whatever you can do to make the house look updated and move in ready will help attract more potential buyers. Of course, price is key as well.
