Making upgrades to a house.

My parents are trying to sell their house and we have not gotten any offers yet. They have hardwood floors under the carpet in the LR and DR. My mother's concern is that if they pull up the carpet and refinish the floors it will clash with other flooring in the foyer and kitchen which lead right up to both the LR and DR. The foyer has one type of tile and the kitchen has a different type of tile. Do you think people looking at the house would have a problem with that? Also, if you had the choice of refacing cabinets in the kitchen or installing stainless steel appliances, which would you do? Thanks in advance for your responses.

I don't see how hardwood floors could clash with tile any more than a solid carpet pattern would. Buyers like hardwood floors. As far as the cabinets vs. stainless steel, it has a lot to do with your list price and what buyers would expect to find in a house at that price point.
More importantly, price is king! Reduce until you get offers. That's the way to get things sold in this market. Good luck!
