No not necessarily, A modular home is a home constructed in multiple sections in a factory. It is built to the same building code used by conventional site-builders and is transported to the home site where it is placed on a permanent foundation. So if your purchasing a new modular home you actually are able to design the layout of how they will construct it in the factory and the walls can be placed where you'd like them to be. Obviously with the OK by the Architect/ Engineer
