Is it possible to cancel a contract on our house? We sold it , and there hasn't been any inspections yet. We

lost a lot of money in the stock market, and it is going to be really tough to get enough together to pay all the fees as we are losing money on the sale of our house.

Rebecca
You need an attorney for legal advice.

I would talk with your Realtor ASAP and discuss your options. If you are in the contingency period and just now figured out that you cannot afford to sell, you have no time to waste.

Agree with Lynn, here. Rebecca - your agent will be able to help you. Real estate contracts are serious business, and these are the things law suits are made of.

FIRST ANSWER

Where is realtor? What does your contract state? Is it during the option period? Did the buyer place money in escrow? You will need to forward termination of contract agreement via your agent.
