Is it good to renew a termite contract?

I am going to be placing my 3 year old home on the market, and did not know if this was worth the $100 to renew it.

By termite zone, he means and area that has active termite activity. Which pretty much puts all of NC in a termite zone.

http://www.terminix.com/Information/Termite-Swarms/ - you can put in your zip code and see projected activity (it's a bit dated, covering early 2009 activity)

How do I find out if I am in a termite zone? Pest control company?

Not sure Benito what you mean by "Daniel is a realtor, lives there and he has it." Clayton is over an hour away from where I live.

If you live in a termite zone, you want full protection.
Daniel is a realtor, lives there and he has it. You should too.

Yes, you want the treatment and damage coverage. Like everything in life, call around and get a couple of quotes to compare. I pay close to what you were quoted, and they come out 4 times a year, check and bait the traps around my house and shed (I have about 15 traps around my house and shed) There are almost always termites in my traps, but they never get to the house. Any my payments are spread out over the 4 visits.

Called pest control company this morning. This $100 (on a $117k home) just covers for them to come out and inspect. It would go up to $250 to include damage coverage. Wouldn't I want that in the first place?

YES!!! A million times YES!!! Termites can do a lot of damage in a very short time. I always advise my clients to get and keep a termite contract. In NC it's not if you get termites but when you get termites if you don't have protection.

I do not know the sales price of your property but such protection , at $33 per year, if transferable to buyer, it sounds very cheap.

Hi Belinda. Most buyers will have a termite inspection prior to settlement. Sometimes it is required by the lender. Having a contract in place showing a clean certification can help facilitate the sale. Without a contract, if evidence of treatment is found, the inspecting company may require a new treatment.
