Usually there is a trend in the market to slow down over the holidays, yes. However, our market has not been true to trends lately. August in Pearl River County was very slow but Sept and Oct are extremely busy. I am working with about ten families right ow looking to buy houses. I just showed a house to a client in McNeill last Tuesday and we are now under contract and due to close on Nov. 20. Is your house a possible contender for a 1st time home buyer? Or is it more valuable than that? I have lots of buyers right now who are trying to find something today in order to take advantage of the $8000 tax credit. Our recommendation is to be in touch with a couple "high profile" agents from your general location. They will have the best feel for your area's market and be able to provide you with reliable advice.

Requesting specific information about your area may provide the best insight you could get. Look at the number of homes currently on the market, the number of homes recently sold, average length of time a home is on the market before selling, and what the average selling price is for you location.
