Brian Walsh Buyer's Agent’s answer
Hello,

Yes fees are negotiable in South Carolina. It is actually against the law for agents to even discuss commission with each other. Has to do with preventing price fixing. Commission are negotiable with most companies. Each company makes their own commission policies. Most agents are limited to how much they can negotiate. They don't own the company so they cannot make company policy only abide by it.

I hope this helps, please let me know how else I can help.

All fees are negotiable but certain fees are customary for Buyer or Seller. However just because something is usually paid by one party doesn't mean that it is not negotiable.

This depends on the area but the market we are in has shifted from a buyers market to sellers market. Properties that were hard to sell last year are selling well now and inventory has dropped.

When deciding what fees to negotiate and what to offer you always want to look at the market trend, inventory, economy and competition first. These factors will give you the signs as to what your best strategies are in negotiations.

In South Carolina, commissions are not at a set rate. Speak with your agent and come up with something that works for both of you.
