I just bought a townhouse and want to do some remodeling to increase the value, specifically
replacing the worn carpet with hardwood floors. Given the price difference between laminate and real wood, is there any added value increase for laying wood floors vice laminate?
Real verses imitation will always be the best overall "value" and quality....But then you'd have to know for yourself which one works best for your personal budget...Good luck an congrats....
My husband is a licensed contractor who lays hard wood/laminate floors for a living...

It depends on if you bought the townhome to live in, to fix up and sell, or????
To flip it, go the cheapest wood flooring - if you are going to stay 3-5 years, real hardwood is the best, and most expensive - at my real estate office I have lists of the best and cheapest companies that do all this type of work - so give me a call and I can help you - Brandywine is right down the road, and we do cover that area in all real estate functions. In my opinion hardwood will have better market value. Laminate is easier to take care of. So a lot would depend on your own preferences.
