Bonnie:
Homes are selling - albeit not at the rate of times past; but with all things being cyclical, this too shall pass.

I see that you are southwest of Chicago - but am not familiar with your market/area... I do know the general vicinity (I would like to retire to Southern Illinois - It's breathtaking!) Cathi provided true statistics for you - and I'm sure they will be helpful. But your question leaves more questions than answers...

Are you interested in property to build on? Again, I think you would be better served if you contact a local agent to give you particulars for your particulars.

Hi Bonnie,

In general, homes are still selling. Some are not moving as well which could be due to a variety of factors such as price, location, etc.

Property is still selling as well, but again it depends on those factors.

I did a quick search in Wilmington and there are 72 pieces of land on the market with 5 of them pending right now. In the last 3 months 2 properties have closed and an additional 4 in the 3 months prior to that. So, in Wilmington, the velocity (those on the market compared to pending and closed) does not look good for land sales.

That being said, someone could have a lot in a desirable location, priced right and it could sell quickly. I do have to say though, if you don't NEED to sell, don't put it on the market right now.

If you need a Realtor in your area to help you determine if selling is right for you at this time, feel free to contact me and I can link you up with one.
