The power of the MLS cannot be understated. Sellers on a budget might consider using a discount broker that charges a flat fee to enter your property into the MLS but don't skimp on the buyers agent comission! They are the ones that will find your buyer and they deserve their 1/2 of a listing commision for doing the "heavy lifting" for you.

I was looking for places to find FSBO's for sale and I stumbled on another great resource out there. FSBO Buyer's Guide looks similar to Trulia but lists only for sale by owner property. The website is http://www.FSBOBuyersGuide.com - they seem to have a ton of FSBO's from all over the country. Just my two cents... thank you Mark for the other helpful links a well!

Thanks for the info Mark. I did not know that Trulia didn't have FSBO listed. Thanks for the links to the other sites...

Mark,

You say you searched through Trulia; however, you apparently skipped right over the community guidelines and its policies against spamming.

You did it 3 times in one thread.

Here it is: http://www.trulia.com/guidelines/

Another option for owners listing their homes themselves (commonly called "FSBO") is to place their property on many of the other free real estate or classified websites out there. AreaByOwner.com is a for sale by owner website that offers sellers an easy-to-use website to list their property for sale on the web. All of our home/property listings are also published to our nationwide partner sites including Google, MSN, Oodle, and ByOwnerMLS to offer our sellers even greater exposure.

...And the best part about AreaByOwner.com is the low one-time fee of ONLY $60! You pay once to list our home, photos, open houses, full description at AreaByOwner.com and you never pay a commission! How could it get any easier?

Check out our current homes for sale at http://www.AreaByOwner.com today!

To add to me previous past... after searchng the Trulia website, on their About Us section they have a section dedicated to explaining to their users "What We Believe". One of the statements that is made is "Information should be made freely and easily available to everyone". Does this include sharing all information, even home listings from FSBO's? Something to think about anyway.

The fact that Trulia is dedicated to helping agents/brokers get additional exposure to their homes for sale and leaves FSBO's in the dark is disturbing. Ttoday's rather tight real estate marketplace forces many sellers to go the "for sale by owner" route. A little assistance for FSBO's would go a long way for gaining acceptance with ALL sellers and buyers of real estate... not just brokers. Thank you for your consideration!

An earlier answer correctly notes that there's no "Trulia FSBO." But, there may be discount brokers and FSBO / MLS services that provide feeds to Trulia.

The suggestion to advertise your property on Craigslist and Zillow is a good one.

Kim,

You might want to try craigslist, base.google.com, and zillow.com. You might be able to get yourself some exposure there.

Hi Kim,
Trulia only displays listings that are represented by an agent or broker. If you have an agent, you can point him or her to the link below, where they can submit their listings for inclusion into Trulia's index.
I hope this helps!
