It's hard to believe, but it's true.We r on our 2nd real estate agent in the past 4-5 mths.We r selling our & have already purchased another home in Wash. State. We have yet 2 hire a realtor that will keep up on the simple things like....call us once a wk.,make sure the box is not empty of fliers. Here's a good one!Does not lie 2 you.My daughter came home 2 stay for the weekend while we were out of town. She found a note on r door from a couple who came 2 look at the house. The note read "We were here 2 look at your home,& your realtor (place name here), was a no-show.If you would like 2 show us the house, give us a call at...signed..So r daughter called & told us about the note.We called the couple & set up a time the next day 4 r daughter to show them the house. My husband also called & asked r realtor if she had anyone interested in looking at the house while we were gone. She said "No".He told her about the note, then she gave an excuse that the couple was weird.Talked 2 broker,he was not
It is stories like these that remind me why real estate agents have such a bad reputation. Allow me to apologize on behalf of the culprits.
I think the best thing to do is to ask agents to show you the homes that they have successfully listed and sold in the last 6 months. Experience matters.
If I can be of any other assistance please don't hesitate to contact me.

I'm sorry that this is happening to you, but not all agents are the same. Allot of us are committed to our job some are not. Some agents work part time only, so they will only do part of the job for you. You need to interview a few agents and tell them exactly what you expect from them, and ask them what are they going to do for you, how are they going to advertise you property is a very important question, and don't hire an agent from Salt Lake or Saint George if you are selling your house in Brigham city (not that they are bad is just too far away from the home you are selling). At Century 21 we have a 'Seller Service Pledge" that tells you what to expect from us that if we fell to do what in writing we are telling you we will do, them you can fire us for falling to our commitment to you.
If you still need an agent to work for you and you are done with the previous one, give me a call (801) 644-8885 or email me at marta.valdez@century21.com. I'll be happy to be interviewed for the job.
And if you are already working with someone else and still not getting what you want it might be that you need to give him a chance and tell him exactly what you told us. Some times we need to know that the service we are providing is not to your satisfaction, that also makes better agentes.
Good luck to you!
I'm sorry that you have been treated so poorly by real estate agents in Utah. I think the best way to find a "hard working honest realtor" is to interview a few and see what you feel comfortable. Since you have had a bad experience, I would also make sure that you have "in writing" something that states you can fire your realtor at any time. I usually sign a 6 month listing with everyone, but I guarantee that if you are ever unhappy with the way that I am working you can fire me at any time. I've never been fired yet.
The other important aspect in finding a "hard working honest realtor" is that they work for a reliable company; especially since they are selling your home. You need a company that will give you the most exposure. I work for one of the number one companies in Utah (Prudential). I was the number one agent at our office first quarter of this year. I'd love an opportunity to interview for the job; I take my work very serious and do it full time. Please feel free to call me with any questions 801-440-2814 and feel free to check out my website: http://www.utahsonlinehomes.com

Wow, I don't even know where to begin... I hear this kind of thing much more regularly than I should. I actually specialize in expired listings, which means that I work with home sellers who listed their home with another agent and for whatever reason the house didn't sell in the agreed time frame and the contact expired. The best way to figure out what to do next is to take a hard look at your situation and decide what the most improtant factor in selling the house you own in UT is. Is getting the most money top priority or is getting the property sold quickly the top priority? So, the salesman part of me wants to give you some sales pitch about how great I am and that I do all the things you want me to do and more... but I'm thinking, given what you have recently been through with real estate agents, I will save the line and tell you this instead, lets get on the phone and have an honest conversation about your situation and see if I'm the right guy for you. If not, thats okay, but lets at least chat a bit and see if we can come to an agreement that will get the house sold. Call me anytime day or night. Good luck! Joe 801-391-9811
Sorry! I didn't see the rest of your question until I answered the first part. So, I have a son who recently got his license, and he helps me make sure the flyers are stocked. I'm out at my homes showing them often, so I see when they are low, if the client isn't living in the home at the time. I advertise your home on 7 different websites, and I pay extra for one of them plus the magazine that comes with that website would have your home in it. I return phone calls within the hour, EVERY TIME...and never leave my clients hanging. That would be like my boss asking me to do something and I never get back with them. I work for YOU, and thus am responsible to you for getting the job done. I do open houses, and my son also does them for me. We have quite a pool of agents in our office that will also do open houses. If it's done on a Saturday, I will generally get back to you by Monday morning, when I update you on the past week. I NEVER let a week go by without updates to my clients. I had ankle surgery about 9 weeks ago and was returning my calls by the afternoon of the surgery. It's THAT important to me! And my clients knew ahead of time that I would be in surgery that morning, so that they didn't panic if I wasn't back to them in the hour.
Yes, there ARE hardworking realtors in Utah. I'm proud of what I do, I work hard, but it has always felt good to work hard.
May I just say that I am sorry you have had to go through this with a realtor. Those that do not do the job they agreed to make us all look bad. Just make sure, when you do choose a realtor that you ask them if they work full time. That is important, that your home is not second on their to do list.
Again, good luck, and I would love to help you out. Judy Bristow - 801-336-0855
There are a lot of really hardworking agents in Utah, and I'm one of them. I send a report from Realtor.com every Monday to my listing clients. It tells them how many online showings they had the previous week. I also send a copy of a form I made up where I list every showing and the feedback on those showings so you, as the seller, can see what people are saying about your home. I have been in the top 50 of our company (out of 1600 agents) and I have also been on the Skyrocket Report for our Wasatch Front Multiple Listing Service. I love what I do, I work hard at it, and I have had good success. My cell phone # is 801-336-0855 and I would be happy to help you sell your home. I actually grew up in Washington State, in the Seattle area, actually a little town about 45 minutes away called Granite Falls. My Grandma lived in Seattle, so we were there a lot.
Good luck with your search. I would love to help you! Judy Bristow 801-336-0855
(Here is the rest of the story as there was not enough room to finish above)
The broker was not happy to hear about any of what was happening. He said that "He would talk with our realtor, and if things still do not change, we'll take a different approach" I am not sure what that means, but if it "another" un-dependable realtor. How do you know what your getting before you sign the contract? So anyway, our realtor had an open house last weekend. We were out of town again,(actually my husband was. He was in Washington visiting me, in our home we bought here). But my daughter was in and out of the house. So, rather than our realtor calling us, she tells our 21 year old daughter about how the open house went. We still have not received a phone call from our realtor about anything since the broker talked to her either.
We are not asking for anymore than what a good hard working realtor commits themself to when they choose realty as a career in the first place.
Call us at least once a week...let us know your there! Let us know you care!
Make sure you keep up on the fliers and give us extra one's too.
Above all...please don't lie! It's hard enought to sell a home with the economy the way it is. Which is no fault of any realtor. But to compound the situation by ending up with realtors who don't put any effort in other than getting you to sign the contracts is really frustrating and makes you feel almost hopeless! We have found while living in Utah for the past 3 years, the common theme in the majority of an array of businesses, lack drive and caring. They either don't answer their phone, don't call you back after leaving a message (which is another habit our realtor has, not returning phone calls....the few that we have made to her, then just got discouraged). Please tell us there are some true hard working, dependable and honest realtors in Utah, and if so, where are they???????? Please help!
