Who you hire can make a difference, either positively or negatively. The education, training and experience required to get a real estate license is very minimal. Therefore you might get someone with the minimum of all three. This could result is a poor MLS listing and a broker who talks to no one. You could also get the opposite, that is a great MLS listing, great photos, and a broker in touch with a lot of people in the market place.

It most definitely makes a difference! Look at various listings in the MLS, some are very informative with a lot of information and professional pictures. This is one of many things to look for. Here's one of my blogs which discuss what to look for in a listing agent.

I've gotten the same non page as Ernie below. Surprised you've not fixed it or at least mention why in another note here.

When choosing an agent to list your home base your selection on facts. While many can advertise great expertise ask to see it on black and white. Check their sales in the past 12 months, how many days properties averaged on market and what is the list to sale ratio.

It most definitely makes a difference! A good agent will do things like recommend a pre sale inspection and tell you how to increase the curb appeal of the home. They should be there for you throughout the entire process and actively work to sell your home.

Absolutely! Excellent marketing is very critical to the successful sale of your home. When interviewing agents make sure you find out the specific ways they will market your home. Also, have them show you listings they have online so you can view things such as how they describe the property and the quality of the photos posted.

Yes!! You should interview agents to find out how they plan on marketing your property to sell it. You pay a good whopping amount in commissions to that selling agent make sure him/her is going to work for it. They should know the area, provide you with a market analysis, and how they plan on marketing your property and to whom! Hungry agents work harder :)

Certainly. You need someone that is competent, diligent, and reachable. You also want someone with access to the MLS.

Does it matter in other professions who you pick? Of course the answer is yes, some agents are just lazy. Some try hard, but don't get it. Some agents are learning and doing better with every transaction. Some are doing things the same way they did them 30 years ago. Some are current, well educated, technologically savvy and combining old school and new school techniques to maximize their clients final outcome.
Some agents listen, some talk. Some agents are spread too thin, others don't have any other clients and will camp out at your home and try too hard. Some agents will do whatever you ask them to, even when it's not really in your interest. Some agents will discuss the best practices, some that might seem odd but get the right results.
Yes, it matters, but only if you want to sell your home and get the best possible outcome.

Yes it can make a difference. For example, some agents have a different full time job and they can't answer their phone when they are at work. They miss potential buyers who may then forget about the home and move on. There are many other reasons why it matters. Does it matter which plumber you hire? It is always good to ask people that you know and trust for a recommendation on who to use, and then still interview multiple ones to be sure. This is for informational purposes only.

Not only does it make a difference what agent you use but it's equally important to which company you use as well. There are companies that are virtually invisible while other benefit from high visibility through multiple advertising campaigns. Make sure you enjoy the befits of both.

Additionally, when considering listing your property, sellers should always interview a number of agents for considertion. This should include requesting in writing a comprehensive marketing plan that includes the agent and company's initiatives for selling your property. You will find this to be a valuable tool that will allow you to chart what has and hasn't been done.

Just keeping it real!

Good luck,

It makes a HUGE difference. You want an agent that will stand by you and guide you through each step of the selling price. They also need to price the home properly, set a proper marketing plan for the most potential buyers who will want your home, answer their phone to field question, show to pre-qualified buyers, assist you when you get an offer, be there for inspections and appraisal and be there for closing. A good offer should be able to sell the home faster and at the best possible price.
